Iron & Manganese Reduction >>
Iron and manganese are commonly found in waters. They can cause unsightly staining and can cause health problems. They can be removed by cataltyitic oxidation or ion exchange methods. |
pH (increase) Systems >>
Water in which the pH is below 7 is acidic which can cause pipework corrosion, staining of baths and sinks and can leave a distinctive metallic taste. Raising the pH above 7 reduces the problems and makes the water more palatable. . |
Arsenic Reduction Filters >>
Arsenic is found in waters in many parts of the UK. The Arsenic comes from the underground rocks through which the ground water percolates. The legal limit is 10ug/ll. The arsenic can be reduced with specially formulated filter media. |
Nitrate Reduction Filters >>
Nitrate levels in many waters are often high. Over 60% of nitrate enters the water from agricultural land. High levels can cause illness especially in babies. The most common removal method is ion exchange. |
Carbon Filters >>
Granular Activated Carbon (GAC) filters are an excellent choice for removal of chlorine, taste and odour, or organics in water. Some types will even reduce metals. There are many variations but most based on coconut, coal, wood or bone. |
Colour Removal Filters >>
Colour in water is normally due to iron and manganese or organic tannins (often from peaty water). If the colour is due to tannins the colour can be reduced by specialised ion exchange resins. |
Hydrogen Sulphide Reduction >>
Hydrogen sulphide (H2S) is a gas which if dissolved in water smells like rotten eggs. |
Ultrafiltration >>
Ultrafiltration systems can remove sub micron particles such as clay and colloids. They can also stop bacteria and can be used in conjunction with disinfection systems. This UF uses a multi port valve to backwash with the option of chlorine dosing to keep the UF module clean. Flow rates of up to 1.8 m3/hr can be catered for depending on water quality. |

Aeration Systems>>
Air contact (Aeration Systems) are primarily used for mixing air with the water, this aids the oxidisation of certain components in the water. One of the most common uses is to oxidise soluble Iron and Manganese into soluble hydroxides. |
